Although he definitely doesn't act like it, gray hairs are beginning to sprout on Dinero's shoulders under his mane. An odd spot, but Dinero's not a horse for following rules. He'll be turning 19 next year. He's been a senior horse for a few years but it really hit me in the gut when I was doing his Coggins last week. It doesn't stop him from chasing down other horses in the pasture and issuing an unwarranted ass-kicking. As far as he's concerned, he's still a sprightly 3 year old who bows to no one. He has plenty of opinions and they WILL be heard.

To honor my grumpy old man, I've created a photography project where people in the southwest (and beyond) can apply to tell the stories of their golden oldies and get a special photo session with them free of charge. Read more about the project and apply here: https://truluckphoto.com/19-over-19

Unsure about what size to order for your new equine print? Don't worry - I'm here to help! Simply take a photograph of the wall where you plan to display your print, with an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper taped to the wall. This will give me an idea of the space you're working with and help me suggest the perfect size or collection for your needs.

I've finally sat down to put my digital calendar down on paper (the joys of TBIs - I use multiple calendars to stay on track with life) and my late winter/spring schedule is PACKED! Tons of barrel races throughout far west Texas and New Mexico, EXCA races, and some minis sprinkled through to raise funds for the ranch. I'm now the social media manager for the ranch and I'm working on ways to raise funds to make it bigger and better! We're working on reinstating the 501(c)3 status so that we can apply for grants and give back to the community. I have some model calls set up to go out in emails in March for some personal projects and I'm working with some wonderful equestrians on behalf of the Equestrians of Color Project to give voice and motivation to minority equestrians. Now that I'm learning strobes, this means I can start working in east Texas under one of my friends for breed and cowhorse shows. This also means I'll be picking up clients as I travel. I'm saving up for a trailer so that I can drag Dinero up to Kansas for some training under a trainer that I met during a photography mentorship. The fat man needs some work put in so that he can be a rockstar for our session together with Foxtrot Photography. I'm so excited! I've been meaning to get photos of us together since his big colic scare last year. I'm finally taking my own advice to stop hiding behind excuses and taking the damn picture. As always, life starts getting busy and looking good the last year I'm located in a spot lol. Pretty soon we'll be packing up and moving again.

Life Update

2 min read

I didn't know it was possible, but I'm busier than ever - I'm in college with a condensed schedule (8 week semester instead of a 16 week semester), my horse is on self care board, so I'm out twice a day to feed and harass him, I'm now the official photographer for the Sheriff's Posse's monthly extreme cowboy races, I'm working on regularly traveling up to Santa Fe to work with a barn up there, and I'm working on the Heart Horse Project to add a little bit of love and happiness to 2022.

I'm also working with a mentor on revamping my business so that I can bring in more clients to afford my horse's lavish lifestyle lol. My oldest son is excited because more clients = more money for him. I've trained him up to be a champion "happy ears" assistant, so he's an integral part of the business when it comes to my Fine Art sessions.

There's a lot of travel coming up in 2022 and I couldn't be more excited. We're going up to Albuquerque for my birthday for their chocolate and coffee market. I'm also going to Kansas in May to shoot a branding.

I don't know if I'll be able to leave the southwest when it comes time to move again in a few years.
