An Oshkosh Mine Resistant Ambush Protected All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) with a mine roller attachment
provides security in the Wanake Valley, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, Sep. 3, 2011. The mine roller
is used to detonate improvised explosive devices before they have a chance to harm service-members
riding in the vehicle. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Kristina Truluck/Released)

My military imagery is available for public domain. As the photographer, I don't have control over

tanikel,

I have a question regarding the folded material on the turrent: Was/Is the turrent open topped?

My reason for the question is that I'm building an Art Car in the Mad Max category which will include a hatch in the back half of the roof. Photos in my gallery. I'm examining all options.

Thanks in advance,
Tyr

Yep, this one was.  I only remember because it was one of the missions I ended up having to pull turret duty.  xD

Thanks!  Fortunately, my team and I have been back for about a year now.  I'm trying to get myself on a team to go back next spring.  =D

Well, be careful out there. I have some friends in the 1460th Transportation (Midland MI) heading back over there soon.

My interest in all things military is because I am a writer. Next year have a Military Thriller/Horror series coming out. More about the CO of a big ass APC on steroids (I call it more a HTV, Heavy Transport Vehicle) and his crew and their vehicle, rumbling state-side in 2025 trying to protect the living and unliving (yes, it's got zombies) from each other. (It is not your standard fare zombie tale...like I said, more about the living crew and vehicle.) All action-adventure.

Anyway, take care, sir.

Maybe I'll run into them, who knows?

That sounds like an interesting story, I'll keep my eye out for it.

It's actually ma'am, but no worries.  I get it all the time.  ;)

Doh!! How about if I read your profile page closer. LOL We have 3 boys btw...7, 10, 13. My poor wife...all that testosterone. :D

TRANSPORT is the name of the series. I bounce between writing Sword & Sorcery and Military Thrillers/Scifi. Had lots of material pubbed in the S&S realm, and within the last few years have been writing about my second love--all things military---with some success! (I have a library of reference material and also some friends in the Service who keep me straight.) :)
