A U.S. Army Soldier assigned to United States Forces - Afghanistan plays with Military Working Dog Gero
during a break between clearing compounds in Shah Karez, Afghanistan, March 9, 2012. Military
working dogs are used throughout the U.S. Military for detecting drugs and explosives, deterring
threats and protecting their handlers. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Kristina Truluck/Released)

My military imagery is available for public domain. As the photographer, I don't have control over
how you may use it, but I ask that it be  done with respect to the individuals represented here.

A great photo to show these two brave young heroes.  It is so great to see such images of the few that are willing to give so much for so many.

Best detection equipment in the world, and they work for tennis balls - if they only knew.

Yeah, I don't think that they'd be doing it if they knew.

It was interesting to watch them work, though.  To them, it's just a big game.

In a perfect world we wouldn't need them, but sure glad we have them - sorry to hear that this one is no longer with us.

Unfortunately not.  My main reason for updating this photo was because his handler contacted me last night saying that he had to be put down.  =(

Gee-ro.  I have no idea if it means anything else, but it makes me think of the lamb wraps that are sold at the Greek restaurants.

There was this one halal place in Korea we went to (Not that we eat much Halal), but they had banana milk shakes(nanner milk is popular in Asia) and it was good! I tried a gyro thing, not bad.

as for what made me wanna' "favorite" the image... the humanity. the juxtaposition of different cultures and the mix of emotions when viewing the image. .... in short though, I just dig it.
