An Afghan boy holds onto a stuffed animal outside of Spin Boldak, Kandahar Prov., Afghanistan,
Aug. 31, 2011. Soldiers of B Troop, 2nd Squadron, 38th Cavalry Regiment were working with the
Afghan Border Police to hand out stuffed animals to the local children. (U.S. Army photo by Spc.
Kristina Truluck/Released)

This poor little boy didn't know what was going on. He was frightened of top with all of his bulky
gear and booming voice. However, he WAS pretty excited about his new toy. ;p

Yes. Islam has got to be the world's most satanic cult ever. I don't care what people say about me for expressing this. Islam is terrible. My heart aches for them, especially the children and women. They experience so much hell and go through mind breaking trials. Lord Jesus, help them is all I can say.

I will give you two links to save you from your blind ignorance: 1- [link]
2- [link]

Homosexuality and or pedophilia has nothing to do with either culture nor religion. It is about the person who does it, or else the catholic church would have won the crown for child abuse. And by the way, did you hear about the reason why the pop resigned lately? Stop being a hypocrite and get some education. And Islam is a religion by the way.

Pedophilia/homosexuality happens a lot in those countries. We hear that homosexuality is punishable by death in those neck of the woods---only if one is caught.

A whole generation has grown up with American Soldiers around them. Hopefully positive experiences such as one like this, outweigh the negative ones.

Definitely. The kids have learned to associate soldiers with freebies, haha. I'm one of those suckers who's always bringing out pens or candy for them and end up getting mobbed. >.>

Hopefully this does not place them in harms way when those who oppose the Soldiers presence decide to send lead down range towards them.
How much good does a stuffed animal or piece of candy help? Have we seen an impact in the generation that has grown up with an American presence (below the age of 8)? Is it positive or negative?

I'd love to say that it doesn't, but I don't know. All I can really do is hope.

From what I've seen, there is a positive impact. We're opening more schools and hospitals, aiding in the training of their police and military and I'm hoping bringing an improvement to their lives. I've seen the way some of the locals light up when they see us entering their village- the kids wanting to play and get freebies, those more mature actively seeking our medics for their ailments.

There's also always going to be the ugly side, unfortunately.
