Freedom Hill Horse Rescue
Owings, MD | May 10th, 2014
Canon 5D MkII

Available for adoption.
My best horsey friend.  It can't be a coincidence that he's the same age as my husband.  ;)
Brocca is a 30 year-old Standardbred gelding with Cushings disease.  It does affect his ability to be ridden - he's okay for very light riding as long as he isn't having a flare-up.  He's our typical old man - greeting everyone with the "angry horse from hell" face only to sell his soul for some cuddling.  Chest scratches and jaw rubbings will make you his best friend.  He has no problem standing still resting his muzzle either on top of your head or on your shoulders basking in the love.

Haha, he probably should.  He's probably the human equivalent of 70-80.  The face he uses to greet people could easily be translated to "get off my lawn!"  :lmao:

Thanks!  He normally looks pretty rough, especially since the horses at the main barn don't get along with him.  =/

Thanks! He's an utter sweetheart. He was extremely affectionate this morning, I couldn't do anything without him trying to rest his muzzle on me or trying to get his scratches.

Thanks!  I wish my husband would say the same, haha.  His response is always "Meh, it's a horse.  Let's just ride." :giggle:

''I keep telling my husband that this guy is made for him - they're both old, look grumpy, and are absolute goofballs. ''

HELLO! .... ROTL 'resembles' that, too! (GRINS) ..... MUST be a "MALE" thing? .... (MORE GRINS) ....

The PREAKNESS is on later today! ....

Ha!  That's exactly what I was thinking!

It is?  I completely forgot about it!  There hasn't really been too much advertising about it in Maryland this year.  =(

Beautiful portrait, Kristina.  You have more negative space on the right than is typical with equine shots, but it works very well.  Brocca's eye is the focus of the shot.

Old, grumpy, and absolute goofballs, you say?  :D

You caught me, Steve!  It was originally framed with his head positioned in that negative space, but he refused to look even the tiniest bit regal in that pose.  He's worse than me when it comes to making ridiculous faces in front of a camera!

Yep! It seems to be a male trait.  ;p
